BITCYCLE ltd is a startup company founded by partners with strong background on the development of electronic control systems in Motorsport applications. Taking advantage of this expertise, the firm mission is to develop innovative software for electric bicycles, focusing on performance and safety.

OVERVIEW

The reinvention of commuting is currently happening. The lithium-ion batteries enable bicycles to be re-imagined and re-purposed.
A bike with battery can be re-invented as a bio hybrid vehicle, powered by human pedaling and assisted by battery.
BITCYCLE ltd is committed to design new generation control software which transforms the electric bicycle in a vehicle that is enjoyable, healthy, clean and, thanks to the applied technology, a safer option than a standard bike, reducing the gap in terms of performance with the other vehicles in the traffic.

COMPANY

BITCYCLE ltd is a research and development resource for the light electric mobility.
The company’s commitment is to design software for electric bicycles with high technological contents and with special focus on performance and safety.
BITCYCLE ltd is also focused on the construction of the internet infrastructure that allows electric bikes to be connected vehicles, taking advantage of latest mobile technologies.

PRODUCT

BITCYCLE ltd developed a smart self-adapting type of power assistance based on the cyclist torque request. This control allows a wide range of power assistance without the typical roughness that can be commonly found in competitors’  products.
The innovative approach used to design the software allowed our engineers to create a totally new experience for the riders.
The feeling is having and electric assistance boosting the rider legs, not the bike. We like to call it Superlegs Effect.
Several testers have defined this kind of assistance as the most natural they ever experienced on an electric bike, outperforming on back-to-back tests the biggest competitors in the market.

TECHNOLOGY

The control software is designed using advanced strategies developed in Matlab/Simulink environment, taking advantage of the MBD (Model Based Design) approach. Instead of writing code by hand, control algorithms are implemented as human readable block diagrams and translated automatically in machine code ready to be deployed on target hardware. This approach eliminates the possibility of having bugs in the code and represents the current standard in automotive industry.
